KATHMANDU, JUL 30 - The government has introduced new criteria for foreign junkets of the public office bearers. A Cabinet meeting on Thursday endorsed a directive concerning foreign visits and gifts of the government officials. A committee under secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and comprising secretaries of finance ministry, foreign affairs ministry, home ministry and defence ministry, prepared the directives pertaining the foreign junkets of government officials and VIPs, including the head of government, based on experiences of various countries. Apart from the criteria to be observed by the head of government and other government officials, the directives have set the standard for giving or receiving gifts and how to manage them during foreign visits. According to General Administration Minister Lal Babu Pandit, the Cabinet has also endorsed a directive regarding the maintenance of vehicles held by public officials. Appointments Also, the Cabinet meeting has appointed Deputy General Manager of the National News Agency (RSS) Nirmala Acharya as the Agency's General Manager. The government appointed Moti Bahadur Kunwar as executive director of Nalsingadh reservoir hydropower project, Khakindra Bahadur Bhandari as a member of Central Child Welfare Committee, Rajesh Thapa as General Manager of Cultural Institution. Likewise, Secretary at Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction Khumraj Punjali has been appointed as senior officer of Nepal Administrative Training Foundation.
